An Abundant Family Reunion

A story that has touched our hearts at Turtleworks follows a married couple with a husband from China who adopted 12 children into their family. Coming from a life in war zones and poverty, many of these children live with disabilities and deformities, and the couple took each child in with open arms, providing for themto the best of their ability. As the children grew into their own adult lives, the family grew into an even larger one with the arrival of many grandchildren.

Recently, the wife planned for a large family gathering for all their children and grandchildren. To make the reunion extra special, the wife made a special order to Turtleworks to design matching shirts that each family member can take home as memorabilia from the event. Hearing of the couple’s inspiring story and endearing family bond, Turtleworks produced over 20 shirts with embroidered with the phrase “大家庭“ which translates to “big family.” Designed in bright red with Chinese characters, the shirts reflected the Chinese culture and family values that the couple raised their children on.

Our neurodivergent employees at Turtleworks were thrilled to take on the task. Not only did it give them the opportunity to employ the skills we have been training them for in during vocational training, but it also allowed them to make a positive impact on the neurodivergent community.
